Sell your lawn care or landscaping business

Built a great lawn care company? Let’s talk about what’s next.

Whether you’re ready to retire, step back, or just tired of doing it all yourself, Potomac Lawn Professionals offers Northern Virginia owners a fair, confidential way to pass the business on, with your crews and customers taken care of.

Owner to owner

A note from David

I grew up in Falls Church, went to St. James and O’Connell, and built Potomac Lawn Professionals here. I know what it takes to run a lawn care company: the early mornings, the equipment breaking at the worst time, the crew calling out on a Monday in May.

I also know that most owners have nowhere good to turn when they’re ready for a change. Selling to a stranger feels risky. Shutting down means your guys lose their jobs and your customers scramble for someone new.

There’s a better option. If you’ve built something solid and you’re thinking about your next chapter, I’d like to talk, owner to owner. No brokers, no pressure, and nobody finds out unless you want them to.

And to be clear: we’re not private equity. We’re a local, owner-run company that’s excited to serve more neighborhoods and more homeowners. When you hand off your business, you’re handing it to a neighbor down the road, not a fund in another state.

What we promise

Your crew and your customers, taken care of

  • Your crew keeps working.

Good people are the hardest part of this business to replace. We want to keep yours.

  • Your customers stay in good hands.

We serve them the same way you did, with a local team that answers the phone.

  • A fair, straightforward deal.

We structure it around what works for you: a clean exit, or a transition where you stay on for a season to hand things off.

  • Complete confidentiality.

Your employees, customers, and competitors hear nothing until you decide they should.

Common questions

Selling your lawn care business: answered

Will my employees or customers find out I’m talking to you?

No. Everything stays between us until you decide otherwise. We’re happy to sign an NDA before you share any details.

Are you a private equity firm?

No. Potomac Lawn Professionals is a local, owner-run company based in Falls Church. We’re growing because we want to serve more homeowners across Northern Virginia, and partnering with good local companies is the best way to do that.

I’m not ready to sell yet. Should I still reach out?

Yes. Many good transitions start a year or two ahead. An early conversation lets you plan on your own timeline.

Do I have to leave right away?

No. Some owners want a clean exit. Others stay on for a season to introduce key customers and crew. We’ll work out what fits you.

What happens to my company name?

We’ll talk it through. In most cases customers move to Potomac Lawn Professionals over time, and we handle the change carefully so they don’t feel lost in the shuffle.

Do you buy landscaping companies, or only lawn care companies?

Both, as long as the work is mowing, lawn care and fertilization, landscape maintenance, or a mix of those.

Do you work with brokers?

We prefer to talk directly with owners, but we’re glad to include your broker, accountant, or attorney.
